I hope and pray that the day of change does not come too late.

I hope to see the day where race is no longer the excuse politicians hide behind while they continue to ignore the true reasons of an issue.

I hope to see the day where politics is longer race-based, but instead truly takes to heart what the people need and want.

I hope to see the day where no man will put his race or beliefs above another's as all man are equal.

I hope to see the day where our focus will move towards improving the lives of everyone within the country, regardless of race.

Why should the politics of this nation continue to linger on 'racial issues', shouldn't we have already come into acceptance of everyone. Isn't this the hope of '1 Malaysia'?

Should we not have come to the point where we simply identify ourselves as Malaysians?
And our focuses on what are our rights as Malaysians, instead of continuing to justify why one race should be more privileged than another.

Tell me, what is my generation supposed to do?

My generation, my peers, many of whom are multiracial. Whose parents are of different races. Should we limit ourselves, our identity, to just one race? Or should we embrace the fact that WE ARE multicultural/multiracial, and learn to respect each other.

Instead of shielding one culture from another, should we not learn every aspect of our fellow countrymen? Should we not learn from and about one another? How are we to nurture to respect each other if we are ignorant of the other?

I believe that there is still time for a change. A change from race-based politics to one that is really concerned about the growth of our nation.

I hope to see that day soon, where we debate constructively about to compete economically on a global scale. Or perhaps how to improve the standards and developments of this country to benchmark international standards.

I hope to see that day, where for once, everyone can truly and honestly, "we are united and in harmony".
